[ people have been going crazy, flocking the exhibition hall just to catch a glimpse of a guest piece of technology. some even try to touch it, but get swatted away by the people in charge of the event. that's what happens when a bunch of nerds end up being in the same place as a mech.
. . . MEKA, in this case.
one of SFIT's top students isn't at the exhibition hall yet, though, and is instead helping out one of his professors in the faculty room. said top student has barely slept and looks like a total zombie what with the giant bags under his eyes, as well as how a part of his t-shirt and cardigan are tucked in his pant while the rest are out. the SFIT cap he's wearing is backwards, as well, and the laces on his left shoe are untied.
still, he doesn't seem to care. or notice how bad he looks, really. his professor even offered him a cup of coffee on his way out of the faculty hall, one that he graciously accepted. although when you have a bunch of books on both arms and a grande coffee on top of it, and you're trying to open a door with your back, you probably shouldn't be in such a rush. you could end up spilling the coffee on yourself.
or on someone. ]
Oh, shoot— are you— [ it doesn't even occur to tadashi that the spilled coffee was hot. sorry..................... ] Oh man, I am so sorry.
[ Hana had been in the hallway on the other side, intent on pulling the door to continue her exploration--
When a guy bursts through just as she's pulling, arms full of books and coffee and-- ]
Ow! [ Yes, the coffee is hot. That is typically what coffee is like. It spills onto the SFIT jacket she'd just procured and a little bit onto her hand and she's holding her hand up and shaking the hot liquid off before she finally looks up to see who'd run into her. ]
Ah, no, it was my bad too.
[ Luckily D.Va's trying to keep herself on a low profile-- otherwise this little incident might have gotten a more defiant response. ]
[ he actually needs another cup of coffee rather than help with carrying his things. he does appreciate the offer from the stranger, but he doesn't accept. it's too embarrassing; though he'd accept had she been someone he's known for quite some time. ]

[ some coffee spilled on his notebooks but thankfully it's just on the covers. he makes a mental note to wipe all that up. for now, though, he looks at d.va apologetically. count on tadashi to apologise profusely for his blunders! ]
[ His inquiry has her looking down at her hand, at the coffee-stained end of the sleeve of a jacket she'd just gotten and, while her hand still stung with the burn, nerves feeling like they'd been seared-- her reaction seems... underwhelmed. ]

[ like she just forgot she got hot coffee spilled on her hand. Call it an unnaturally high pain tolerance. ]
I guess it was pretty hot, huh? I should probably get it looked at.
[ okay this guy is... kind of weird... but at the same time, he looked pretty damn tired to her when they'd bumped into each other, so maybe it's sleep depravation? (Maybe that's why he hasn't realized who she is, either?) In any case, Hana can't really help the way she just short of... blinks through his realization followed by sudden excitement. She hadn't said anything that excited, had she? ]

[ she probably shouldn't be following a random student around but at the same time-- ah, screw it. Sooner or later her handlers are going to realize she's slipped away (again) and start hounding for her. Following a random student it is. ]
I'll follow ya. Just tell me where we're going first.
[ he's not weird!! he just... lacks sleep. and can be a bit crazy— okay, maybe he is weird. but he's not creepy! hopefully. ]
Oh! [ he blinks before laughing sheepishly. it did seem suspicious of him to suddenly tell her to follow him, so he quickly fixes his image up. ] Right. I have my own lab. I can look at your hand there.
[ which... sounds even weirder now, now that he thinks about what he just said and how he just said it. ]
It's-- This isn't some kind of pick-up line, I swear.
[ Hana has come across a lot of creeps, having been through the whole pro-gaming circuit as a girl, but this guy hardly seems like a creep. To her, he really just seems like he's running purely on fumes. Which is a feeling she can relate to, honestly.
But-- more importantly, he has his own lab and she'll get to see it. How cool is that?
So she gives a laugh at his follow-up and waves her uninjured hand dismissively. ]
Dude, even if it was a pick-up line? It'd be a pretty bad one. Let's go to your lab!

look. his brother teases him a lot because he's a nerd. he had to clarify!
in any case, tadashi comes to his senses and nods towards the direction of his lab. it's a building away, but at least the scenery is nice. there's so much cherry blossom trees, as well as a bunch of other trees and flowers. they pass by the expo hall, though, and tadashi remembers that there's an exhibition going on. he'd have remembered if he wasn't so busy with schoolwork. ]
You seen the tech in the expo hall yet?
[ when will he notice? not any time soon, that's for sure. ]
[ Hey, he's the one who felt the need to point out that it wasn't a pick-up line! Otherwise D.Va would've never thought of it as one. And, in all honesty, she still doesn't, which works out for the both of them.
(It's kind of cute that he felt like he had to point that out, though.)
As they continue their way through the halls, Hana starts to recognize the way and the fact that he's taking them right past the expo hall and it's more than likely that people around there are going to recognize her or--worse, they'll run into her handlers. So she tries to seem as nonchalant as possible as she pulls the hood of her SFIT jacket on and seems intent on not looking into the expo hall or in its direction at all, focusing her gaze on Tadashi.
He-- really has no idea who she is. She would almost be offended but she is trying to keep a low profile. Or at least, Hana Song is. D.Va has a poster of herself posed with her mech on a banner posted just outside one of the expo hall doors and if her pace hastens threefold as they pass by it, it's totally a coincidence and has nothing to do with the poster at all. ]
Um-- yeah! Super cool stuff. Can't believe we get to see a MEKA unit up close. Super cool. [ you already said 'super cool,' Hana ] Yup!
